Who Are We

We are the SAE Aero Design Team at the University of Virginia. We build large RC Aircraft to compete at the annual SAE Aero Design Competition. Our organization is structured like a professional design team, where we are challenged by design constraints, deadlines, and budget.
On our team, students have the ability to apply knowledge that they learned in the classroom and develop important skills outside of the classroom. This experience prepares undergraduate students to become successful engineers.

​Hoos Flying attends the SAE Aero Design East competition each March. During competition, teams present a 30-page technical design report, an oral presentation, and two days of flight trials. Teams must design aircraft based on design requirements that change each year.
